COVID-19 UPDATE SEPT 20, 2021

As per the new regulations put out by the Alberta government, our store must operate at one third capacity. You will not need proof of vaccination or an exemption to shop in our store. However, as our classes are considered "in-scope" we will be partaking in the exemption program. Proof of vaccination or an exemption will need to be provided in order to attend one of our classes.
Thank you for your understanding during these trying times. We are doing our very best to implement the Alberta Government guidelines. 


All classes are held at Cotton Candy Quilts & Sewing, Grande Prairie, unless otherwise specified. We offer a wide variety of classes from hand work to advanced quilting techniques, so no matter your skill level, we're sure to have a class for you! 

Upcoming Retreats

Our 3 day in-store retreats are a full weekend of sewing, relaxing and socializing. Lunch is provided for all 3 days and supper on Friday and Saturday, as well as snacks and refreshments throughout the weekend. The best part? No dishes or clean-up!

Beginner----------Know how to run your sewing machine
Beginner +-------Has taken a beginner quilt class and has made at least one quilt

Evening Classes

Beginner Quilting
Find a new outlet to let your creative juices flow. Learn the basics of quilting, rotary cutting, piecing, layering, quilting, and binding in a fun relaxed atmosphere. You will have a completed project - baby blanket/table topper and new friends when you are done! Please let us know the Manufacturer and Model# of your machine when you register for this class, so we are properly equipped to help you trouble shoot if any issues arise during class.

Daytime Classes
Halloween Panel Quilt
Spooky season is coming up and we have the perfect panel for this versatile pattern! Join us for this beginner class and create a quilt fit for curling up in for a Halloween Horror Movie Marathon! Halloween not really for you? Well, no worries! The Ladder pattern is extremely versatile and works well with a variety of panels! We would be happy to help you pick out a panel more to your liking for this class!

Oh Honey Quilt Pattern
Do you have an interest in Hand Sewing? Does English Paper Piecing sound like something you'd like to try? Then this is the perfect class for you! This class will be teaching the table topper done by English Paper Piecing, but the pattern you will be using offers the opportunity to use regular piecing to expand it into this stunning quilt!

On The Square Rag Quilt
This is such a fun take on the traditional rag quilt! Whether you are using flannels, homespun, peppered cottons, or a combination of all three, the frayed edges on this quilt are sure to give you warm and cozy vibes as we enter into the colder months!

Trip Around the World
Join us for a quick trip around the world! In this class we will be making a 52"x74" quilt out of the Quick Trip Quilts book by Eleanor Burns. This versatile pattern starts with a center fabric and rounds of fabric escalate in diamond shapes to the outer edges.

Ruler Work Quilting
Learn to quilt your quilts on your own domestic sewing machine. We will have fun playing with a few basic rulers to create many amazing designs. Leave with a completed quilt ready to bind.

Punch Needle
Punch needle embroidery is a form of embroidery that's also related to rug hooking. Instead of stitching through the fabric, punch needle pushes thread or yarn into the fabric, while keeping the needle on the surface. This class will feature designs by Rachel T. Pellman, Rachel's of Greenfield, giving you the opportunity to choose a pattern of your own liking. Cost of the class will include basic punch needle supplies. Cost of the pattern is not included.

Snow Dreams Beginner Foundation Paper Piecing
Foundation paper pieced snowflakes take center stage in this hexagonal quilt. Make a table topper or add a slit and center opening to dress up the base of your Christmas tree with an elegant tree skirt. Come join the Linda's for a class that is sure to be full of lots of laughs, and of course, a little learning too!

Snowflake
This gorgeous pattern is a modern take on a minimal winter quilt. The pattern includes two versions, but in class we will be keeping it simple with the square and half square triangle scrappy version. Featuring a large off centered snowflake, this quilt is perfect to keep out all winter long! And we know.... Grande Prairie winters are LONG!

Whizz Bang! Wish Catcher
This sweet and simple project uses folded fabric and some pretty ribbons to create the perfect gift for the star in your life. Make wishes as you sew, and your wishes will be woven into your stitches. If you have been looking to learn a new technique, this is the class for you!

Midnight Sky Log Cabin
Log Cabin blocks are a favorite among many quilters due to their versatile nature. This exquisite pattern designed by Jackie Robinson adds some additional techniques to the traditional log cabin block, offering intermediate and advanced quilters an opportunity to challenge themselves.

Christmas Gift Bags
While classes slow down until after the holidays, we wanted to still offer you a chance to come in and learn a little! Our Whip it Up Wednesdays for the month of December will offer you the chance to learn and create your own reusable gift bags, perfect for wrapping all those Christmas goodies. Bring your own fabric and materials and our instructor will show you how to whip up one of these adorable little bags.

Drop-In Fall Classes

In addition to our structured classes, we are continuing to offer drop-in classes every week from Monday - Thursday. Drop-in classes are from 9:30am - 5:00pm. 



Sew & Socialize: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays are drop in sewing. Bring your own project or let us help you start a new one! We provide irons, cutting mats, and cutting tables at a variety of heights, you just need to bring your machine and supplies! Prefer handwork? Not a problem! Hand sewing and other hand work are welcome. Coffee, tea, and refreshments as well as a variety of snacks are available to you throughout the day. Meals are not provided, but you are welcome to bring a bagged lunch. No instructor is present on these days, so there is no fee, but staff will be around to help answer any questions you may have. 

Whip it Up Wednesdays: Hit a roadblock with your current project? Finished your first quilt top and now you are wondering how to bind it? Then this is the perfect class for you! On Wednesdays, one of our amazing instructors will be present and at your service to help you power through whatever step has been holding you back from getting that project finished. As there is an instructor present, there is a fee of $10 for Whip it Up Wednesday. 

As there is a limited amount of space in our classroom, we kindly ask that you register to reserve your spot. Registration can be taken via phone, Facebook & Instagram messenger or in person. If the classroom is booked for a private event, all registered patrons will be called and made aware of the class cancellation.

 

Registration Policies


Register in person or by phone at (780) 532-2202. Payment must be made at this time. Visa or Master card accepted. Classes fill on a first come basis. There are NO refunds on registration fees. If there is insufficient registration, classes will be cancelled one week prior to class date and a full refund will be issued.
Materials/preparation sheets must be picked up well ahead of class. Cotton Candy Quilts & Sewing's quality fabric and notions are preferred, and you will receive 10% off all your class supplies. Prep and homework is required for some classes. A portable sewing machine is required for all classes. Please come with it in good working order.
